Wedoany.com Report-May 24, Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has issued a tender for a new solar facility, inviting developers to design, finance, construct, commission, own, operate, and maintain the project. The selected developer will operate as an independent power producer under a 20- to 25-year power purchase agreement.
The tender specifies that the solar facility will connect to a designated transmission network location, with details provided to the successful applicant. The chosen developer will sign a memorandum of understanding with the MEMR, enabling them to conduct measurement campaigns, feasibility studies, and technical integration plans for grid connection.
Interested applicants must submit an expression of interest both electronically and in hard copy to the MEMR by July 15, 2025. Additionally, registration with the ministry is required as part of the application process. The MEMR stated: “This tender supports our commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure and ensuring sustainable power generation.”
Jordan’s solar capacity reached 2,077 MW by the end of 2024, an increase from 1,990 MW the previous year, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The new project aligns with the country’s efforts to enhance its renewable energy portfolio and meet growing energy demands sustainably.
The initiative reflects Jordan’s focus on fostering clean energy development through structured partnerships and rigorous project planning, contributing to long-term energy security and environmental goals.
