Wedoany.com Report-Jun 5, On Wednesday, Jordan’s state grain buyer secured about 60,000 metric tonnes of animal feed barley through an international tender, aiming for up to 122,000 tonnes. European traders reported that the purchase was made to meet the country’s demand for livestock feed.
The trading company Al Dahra acquired the barley at a cost and freight (C&F) price of $229.25 per ton, with delivery scheduled for the first half of September. This transaction reflects current market dynamics, though traders noted that final price and volume estimates may be adjusted later.
Al Dahra was among eight trading firms participating in the tender. Other firms and their estimated C&F prices per ton, as reported by traders, included: CHS at $231.98, Cargill at $222.86, Viterra at $236.00, Bunge at $233.85, Ameropa at $247.50, Olam at $243.41, and Louis Dreyfus at $233.40. These offers highlight the competitive nature of the bidding process.
The tender specified delivery windows between September 1-15, September 16-30, October 1-15, and October 16-31, ensuring a steady supply of barley for Jordan’s agricultural needs. The purchase aligns with efforts to maintain stable feed supplies for livestock, supporting the country’s agricultural sector.
