Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 24, Bahrain’s Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs has launched a tender for the development of a 3 MW grid-connected solar power plant to be constructed for the General Sport Authority under a capital expenditure (CAPEX) model.

The selected developer will handle the full scope of supply, design, engineering, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of the facility. Project completion is required within ten months of contract award, after which the contractor will provide operations and maintenance services for five years.

The tender, published recently, has already attracted nine applications. No closing date for submissions has been specified in the public notice.

According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Bahrain’s installed solar capacity reached 66 MW by the end of 2024.

Separately, earlier this month Foulath Holding, a Bahrain-based steel investment company, and Dubai-based developer Yellow Door Energy announced a 123 MW solar initiative in Bahrain. The project includes a 50 MW rooftop installation that is planned to become the world’s largest single-site rooftop solar power plant upon completion.

These developments support Bahrain’s ongoing expansion of renewable energy infrastructure and contribute to the country’s growing portfolio of clean power generation projects across public-sector and large-scale commercial applications.
