US Department of Energy Invests in Marine Energy and Offshore Wind Research at Universities

Wedoany.com Report-Dec 09,The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced an investment of more than $18 million to fund 27 research and development (R&D) projects aimed at advancing marine energy and offshore wind technologies.

The selected projects, which involve 17 universities, including five minority-serving institutions, focus on addressing challenges within the marine and ocean renewable energy sectors, while fostering innovation and growth.

The offshore wind projects selected through this funding opportunity aim to explore potential synergies between offshore wind, marine energy, and aquaculture development. This initiative is a joint effort between the DOE's Water Power Technologies Office and Wind Energy Technologies Office.

The following universities are among those receiving funding:

- Boston University (Boston, Massachusetts): $375,000

- California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (San Luis Obispo, California): $375,000

- University of Hawaii at Manoa (Honolulu, Hawaii): $497,000

- University of New Hampshire (Durham, New Hampshire): $375,000
