Ocean Winds Extends O&M Contract With Principle Power for WindFloat Atlantic Project

Wedoany.com Report-Dec 10,Ocean Winds has extended its Operations & Maintenance (O&M) long-term contract with Principle Power for the 25 MW WindFloat Atlantic Project. Since the project’s first WindFloat unit was installed in 2019, Principle Power has provided O&M services to Ocean Winds, which oversees the asset management of WindFloat Atlantic on behalf of the project consortium.

These services include inspections, maintenance and repair (IMR) activities, with integrated engineering support. Additionally, Principle Power has been providing remote monitoring and data analytics services to measure and enhance project performance.

The WindFloat Atlantic project is located 20 kilometres off the coast of Viana do Castelo in Northern Portugal, in the Atlantic Ocean. This floating offshore wind power project has a generation capacity of 25 MW, consisting of three units, each with a capacity of 8.4 MW. The project began commercial operation in February 2020 and had generated a cumulative total of 336 GWh by October 2024. The electricity produced is sold through a combined scheme, which includes a feed-in tariff.
