Wedoany.com Report-Feb 25, H2 Fusión, a division of Spanish semiconductor company Meins, has introduced the Solar Heat PR5, a thermal system that generates hot water for self-use solely from photovoltaic (PV) energy. The system converts solar power into thermal energy, offering two models: 80 kW and 100 kW, capable of heating water to 92 C.
The company emphasized its performance: “The PR5 system transforms photovoltaic energy into thermal kilowatts. It is usual for conventional energy production equipment to reach, at most, up to 60 C.” Weighing 360 kg, the unit measures 1,800 mm x 700 mm x 700 mm. It operates under a maximum pressure of 6 bars and functions effectively between -10 C and 50 C. H2 Fusión highlighted its suitability for sectors like meat processing, healthcare, hotels, livestock, and agriculture.
The system’s versatility extends beyond industrial use. “However, its uses are not limited only to the professional field, but the PR5 is a device designed for any building that is required to comply with the specific standards of technical building codes,” stated H2 Fusión.
Currently, the company is completing an installation for Limcasa Group, a Spanish facility services provider. A spokesperson elaborated: “The installation has a 150 kW gas boiler and works at 65 C and we have installed a PR5 in series with the boiler in order to heat the water return and prevent the gas boiler from starting and consuming fossil fuels.” This setup aims to reduce reliance on traditional energy sources.
H2 Fusión explained that the PR5’s thermal output corresponds directly to PV input. For instance, a 100 kW solar array in Salamanca, yielding 160 MWh annually, would produce an equivalent amount of thermal energy. To support a 100 kW system, PV capacity between 100 kW and 120 kW is needed.
The company underscored the system’s economic benefits: “The PR5 system transforms the variable costs of energy into fixed energy costs during the 25-year useful life of the system.” It also noted: “The energy it uses is free because it is produced using natural resources, so the only fixed cost is the initial investment to install the system.” This design prioritizes efficiency and sustainability, leveraging solar power to meet heating demands.
Announced on February 24, 2025, the Solar Heat PR5 reflects H2 Fusión’s focus on practical energy solutions. Its deployment with Limcasa Group demonstrates real-world application, aligning with efforts to optimize energy use in existing infrastructure. The system’s specifications and performance data, as provided by the company, ensure its credibility for prospective users across various industries.
