Wedoany.com Report-Apr 5, Chicken meat exports are on an accelerated trajectory in 2025, with global demand influenced by the rise of avian influenza. This has expanded the prospects for record shipments this season. The global health crisis has particularly impacted key markets like the United States and the European Union. Brazil, however, remains the sole major producer unaffected by avian influenza on its commercial farms, a fact that adds to its global standing in the industry.
The production sector in Brazil has effectively navigated the challenges posed by recent flood events in Rio Grande do Sul, which led to a temporary outbreak of Newcastle disease. Biosecurity measures have, however, ensured a swift resolution and have provided a quality certification for animal proteins from the country. This has bolstered Brazil’s reputation as a reliable exporter of chicken meat.
Export data reveal a significant increase in shipments this year compared to 2024. In February alone, Brazil exported approximately 456.53 thousand tons of chicken meat, marking a 17.6% rise from the same period the previous year. The first two months of 2025 saw a further surge, with exports reaching 887.19 thousand tons—an 13.4% increase over the corresponding period in 2024, which recorded 782.5 thousand tons.
The distribution of exports is diverse, with significant contributions from major markets in Asia, including China and Japan. Additionally, Mexico presents an interesting opportunity, particularly considering the ongoing trade disputes with the United States and its major trading partners. Potential tariffs imposed by the U.S. on Mexican imports could drive demand toward Brazilian exports, offering a promising avenue for growth.
Furthermore, the current exchange rate environment remains favorable for commodity exports, particularly for chicken meat. As domestic beef availability remains constrained, competition among protein sources has intensified, further highlighting the prominence of chicken meat in the market.
In conclusion, 2025 is poised to be a significant year for chicken meat exports, with Brazil leading the charge and global demand influenced by health crises and geopolitical dynamics. The country’s ability to navigate challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities will be key to sustaining its growth trajectory.
