Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 8, Liebherr has finalized the sale of two offshore cranes, the RL 2600 and RL-K 2600, to Yinson Production in Singapore. These cranes will serve the Agogo FPSO, a floating production storage and offloading unit, set to operate in the Agogo field off Angola’s coast. Designed for maintenance and component swaps in tough offshore conditions, the cranes suit the demanding environment perfectly.

The RL series stands out for its compact build, tailored for both fixed and floating offshore setups. The RL-K, an adaptation of the RL design, features a foldable boom, making it ideal for tight spaces. Yinson Production will deploy these cranes on the Agogo FPSO, which they will manage for Azule Energy, Angola’s top independent oil and gas firm, formed by a 50/50 partnership between BP p.l.c. and Eni S.p.A. The Agogo field lies in Block 15/06, about 180 kilometers west of Angola’s shoreline.

This deal marks Yinson Production’s first project in Angola and their second collaboration with Liebherr, following a successful partnership that began in 2016. The Agogo FPSO will bring Yinson’s fleet to eight units. Each crane offers a lifting capacity of up to 30 tonnes and a boom reach exceeding 30 meters. Oliver Odebrecht, Sales Manager for General Purpose Offshore Cranes at Liebherr in Rostock, stated: “We are pleased to be selected as the supplier of the main cranes onboard the Agogo FPSO for Angolan waters and look forward to maintaining our long-standing cooperation with Yinson Production through this new project.” He highlighted the cranes’ advanced features and compact design as key benefits for offshore clients.

The RL-K, with a rear slewing radius under 3 meters, is the smallest in its line. Its superstructure, including the slewing column, supports the main drive, electronic controls, and hydraulic system. The operator’s cabin, attached to the column, ensures easy and comfortable access. The knuckle boom’s mechanical transmission is a standout feature, and the boom length can be adjusted to meet specific needs.

Once operational, Liebherr Portugal will handle maintenance and servicing, offering quick response times and skilled technical assistance. This reliable support ensures smooth operations for customers. The cranes’ delivery strengthens Liebherr’s reputation for providing high-quality, customized solutions in offshore applications.

The Agogo FPSO project reflects growing activity in Angola’s offshore sector, with Yinson Production expanding its presence and Liebherr reinforcing its role as a trusted equipment supplier. This collaboration highlights practical advancements in offshore technology, supporting energy production without affecting trade dynamics like exports or consumption. The focus remains on operational efficiency and durability in challenging marine settings.
