South Korea's Doosan Enerbility plans to construct a dedicated manufacturing plant for small modular reactors (SMRs). According to Korea's Business Korea, citing industry sources, the company recently signed an agreement with local governments, selecting Changwon City in South Gyeongsang Province as the plant site and securing administrative and financial support.

Plant construction is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2026, with official operation starting in 2028. The plant is planned to have an annual production capacity of 20 sets of SMR equipment, aiming to provide core components for small reactors designed by companies such as the US's NuScale Power and X-energy, with the US's TerraPower also listed as a potential customer.
This move is viewed by the industry as a significant step by Doosan Enerbility to position itself in the future market, demonstrating its intention to secure an important position in the SMR equipment supply sector by the 2030s.
