Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 17, Indigo, a U.S.-based agricultural technology company, announced its fourth carbon crop in April 2025, issuing over 500,000 verified carbon credits through the Climate Action Reserve. The program has now issued nearly 1 million credits across four harvests, sequestering 927,000 metric tons of CO2e across 28 states since 2018 and conserving 64 billion gallons of water. This milestone highlights the program’s significant impact on American agriculture and its role in providing economic benefits to farmers.

Dean Banks, CEO of Indigo Ag, stated: “Indigo continues to prove that soil carbon is a real, scalable, and direct investment in economic and natural resilience. It’s bigger than agriculture, the environmental outcomes impact people’s lives, health, and productivity, from small towns to big tech companies. With this issuance, we’ve reached a tipping point in our ability to mitigate business risk and strengthen rural communities. And we’re just getting started…”

The latest issuance of 630,000 metric tons of CO2e, accompanied by 20 billion gallons of water runoff reduction, enhances soil health and watershed sustainability. Unlike other carbon storage methods, Indigo’s approach leverages solar-powered soil processes, conserving water equivalent to the annual usage of 584,000 U.S. households. The program now supports targeted water conservation efforts at the field level, amplifying local environmental benefits.

Indigo’s rigorous measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) practices, praised by Carbon Direct in a February 2025 report, ensure accurate and durable soil carbon storage. Neil Jorgensen, Global Head of Stewardship at Block, noted: “At Block, we’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint and aligning our operations with meaningful sustainability efforts. Indigo was our first regenerative agriculture partner—anнивер excellent inclusion to our portfolio of high-integrity carbon solutions. Their deep commitment to supporting local farming communities and advancing water integrity solutions truly sets them apart.”

Farmer Josh McClain, Owner of Firebolt Ag, emphasized the economic benefits: “If you’d told me six years ago that drones and carbon were our future, I would’ve told you you’re full of it. But that is what we do now. American ag is facing the largest downturn of net farm income from one year to the next, and profitability is the number one concern for farmers right now.”

Indigo allocates 75% of carbon credit value to farmers, enhancing their income through regenerative practices. The program’s growth, supported by an 85% reduction in data collection burdens, positions Indigo to issue a megaton of credits annually, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable agriculture.
