Wedoany.com News, recently, Centrus Energy announced that it has received a $900 million investment to expand its uranium enrichment project in Ohio, enabling it to produce High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) on a large scale.

According to a contract signed with the U.S. Department of Energy in 2019, Centrus Energy built a series of AC-100M advanced centrifuges to verify the production of High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU). The facility became operational in 2023 and has been continuously producing HALEU under its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy.

Note: HALEU is an advanced nuclear fuel required for next-generation nuclear reactors.

As part of its expansion plan, Centrus Energy plans to construct more centrifuge cascades to increase its HALEU production capacity, produce Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU) feedstock for HALEU cascades, and produce more LEU to meet commercial market demands as well as national security needs.
