Wedoany.com Report-Jun 26, Egypt’s state agency Mostakbal Misr has acquired several hundred thousand tons of wheat from Ukraine, Russia, and Romania at prices ranging from $250 to $258 per ton (CNF), with deliveries scheduled for July and August 2025, citing European traders.

While the precise volume of the purchase remains undisclosed, estimates suggest it ranges from 300,000 to 1 million tons. One trader reported a deal size of 300,000 to 400,000 tons, another indicated Mostakbal Misr sought 600,000 tons, and a third source noted that state and private buyers collectively secured between 800,000 and 1 million tons.

This acquisition follows a reported 30% reduction in Egypt’s wheat imports during the first half of 2025, dropping from 7.1 million tons in 2024 to 4.9 million tons. The decline comes after substantial wheat deliveries in the second half of 2024, reflecting Egypt’s efforts to balance import needs with strategic procurement.

Mostakbal Misr’s purchase aims to ensure a stable wheat supply for Egypt, supporting domestic consumption and food security. The competitive pricing and diverse sourcing from Ukraine, Russia, and Romania highlight the agency’s focus on securing cost-effective and reliable grain supplies for the coming months.
