The monorail will feature six two-car trains operating on an elevated one-way loop, connecting six stations integrated into public buildings. Egis will oversee critical aspects of the project, including rolling stock, rail systems, civil and structural works, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, architecture, and utilities. Their responsibilities include monitoring method statements, material submissions, and ensuring compliance and quality control throughout construction.

The KAFD monorail will integrate with the broader Riyadh Metro, a system Egis has previously supported, ensuring seamless connectivity for commuters. The project aims to enhance mobility within the financial district, catering to office workers, residents, and visitors. Faddy AlAql, Chief Asset Delivery Officer for the KAFD Development and Management Company, stated: “The monorail will create a unique 10-minute city for the district’s office workers, residents and visitors.”

The initiative is designed to improve accessibility and efficiency in KAFD, a major financial hub in Riyadh. By connecting key locations within the district, the monorail will reduce travel times and support the area’s growing economic activity. The integration with the Riyadh Metro further strengthens the city’s public transportation network, promoting sustainable urban development.

Egis’s expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects positions it to deliver high-quality supervision for the monorail’s development. The firm’s role ensures that the project meets rigorous technical and safety standards, contributing to the district’s vision of a modern, efficient urban environment. The monorail is expected to enhance the quality of life for KAFD’s stakeholders by providing reliable and convenient transportation.

This contract reflects Egis’s ongoing commitment to supporting advanced infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. The KAFD monorail project aligns with Riyadh’s broader goals of improving urban mobility and fostering economic growth through innovative transportation solutions. By facilitating efficient movement within the district, the monorail will contribute to KAFD’s role as a leading financial and commercial center.
