Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 28, Beijing has launched a plan to advance the integration of 5G and industrial internet, targeting the establishment of at least 20 5G factories by 2027. The initiative, outlined in the Beijing 5G+ Industrial Internet Innovation Development Implementation Plan (2025-2027), was jointly released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology and the Beijing Communications Administration.
The plan includes creating no fewer than 50 5G industry-specific networks and nurturing an equivalent number of suppliers offering comprehensive and sector-specific 5G application solutions. The focus will be on enhancing 5G network coverage in key manufacturing zones and areas with high enterprise density, deploying industrial 5G private networks and 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technologies.
Leading companies in industries such as electronics, automotive, equipment manufacturing, and biopharmaceuticals will spearhead the development of these 5G factories. A representative from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology stated: “Priority will be given to optimizing 5G network coverage in key manufacturing zones and enterprise-dense areas, with deployments of industrial 5G private networks and 5G-Advanced (5G-A).”
The initiative also emphasizes technological innovation, with plans to validate 5G applications in fields like industrial manufacturing, connected vehicles, and healthcare. Beijing aims to advance research and early deployment of 6G technologies in industrial settings, positioning the city as a leader in next-generation connectivity.
This development is expected to enhance industrial efficiency, support smart manufacturing, and improve operational capabilities across multiple sectors. By integrating 5G into industrial processes, Beijing seeks to drive innovation, increase productivity, and foster sustainable economic growth. The establishment of 5G factories and networks will provide robust infrastructure for real-time data processing and automation, benefiting both businesses and consumers.
The plan aligns with Beijing’s broader goals of advancing digital transformation and strengthening its position as a hub for technological innovation. The focus on 5G and 6G applications is anticipated to create new opportunities for industries, support job creation, and enhance the city’s competitiveness in global markets. The collaboration between the municipal bureau and communications administration ensures a coordinated approach to achieving these objectives.
By 2027, Beijing’s investment in 5G infrastructure and industrial integration is expected to set a benchmark for smart manufacturing and connectivity, contributing to the city’s vision of a modern, technology-driven economy.
