Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 29, Taara, a leader in high-capacity Wireless Optical Communications and a graduate of Google’s Moonshot Factory, has formed a strategic partnership with StarTouch, a subsidiary of Declaration Networks Group (DNG), to expand connectivity solutions across the United States. This collaboration aims to deliver high-speed, reliable network services to enterprise, public sector, and carrier customers.
Taara’s Lightbridge technology, which transmits data as beams of light through the air, provides fiber-like connectivity without physical cables. Already deployed in underserved communities to address “middle mile” connectivity challenges, the technology supports rapid deployment across diverse terrains, such as rivers and rugged landscapes. It also enhances 5G backhaul at congested sites and restores critical infrastructure during outages. Through this partnership, Taara extends its technology to industries like manufacturing, automotive, retail, and education, where fast deployment and network resilience are critical.
StarTouch will integrate Taara’s high-speed, low-latency wireless optical links into its hybrid network of licensed microwave and fiber infrastructure. This enables fiber-like speeds and route diversity for customers, significantly reducing deployment times compared to traditional methods. Taara’s links offer 20 Gbps bidirectional throughput with minimal latency over distances up to 20 kilometers. Weighing only 13 kilograms, the units can be installed by a single technician in hours, operating in unlicensed spectrum to avoid licensing delays and recurring fees, while also reducing energy and tower rental costs.
Mahesh Krishnaswamy, Taara’s CEO, stated: “We’ve used Taara Lightbridge to connect some of the most hard-to-reach places in the world using beams of light. Now we’re enabling StarTouch to offer that same speed, capacity, and resilience, unlocking new opportunities to deliver on customer applications. Together, we can change how entire industries think about deploying connectivity, from something that takes months of planning and construction to something that can be up and running within a matter of hours.”
Bob Nichols, DNG’s CEO, said: “A key part of our innovation strategy is leveraging Taara’s next-generation free space optics technology, which enables fiber-like speeds without the cost and delays of physical fiber installation. For our enterprise customers, this means rapid deployment, reduced construction costs, and the ability to connect hard-to-reach or disruption-prone locations in a fraction of the time.”
StarTouch, serving major carriers and enterprises along the West Coast and Mid-Atlantic, aims to scale nationwide. The partnership with Taara will enable faster connectivity for underserved communities, supporting applications in education, healthcare, and remote work, while expanding high-performance services to new markets and industries.
