Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 30, According to market operators, a group of Thai importers purchased around 60,000 tons of feed wheat of random origin during a tender held on August 27. The transaction reflects continued demand in Thailand for feed grain imports to support domestic supply needs.
Traders reported that the purchase was made from operator Bunge at a price of $269.8 per ton on a cost-and-freight (C&F) basis. The procurement highlights competitive pricing in the global wheat market and the role of major operators in supplying key import destinations in Asia.
The shipment is scheduled to take place between September 25 and October 15 this year, ensuring timely arrival to meet the requirements of Thai buyers. The arrangement provides a delivery window that supports flexibility in logistics and import planning.
Traders also indicated that the wheat could be sourced from several possible origins, including the United States, Argentina, Australia, the European Union, and the Black Sea region. The random origin condition underscores the willingness of Thai importers to secure supply from multiple global exporters, depending on availability and price competitiveness.
Market participants noted that the deal reflects Thailand’s approach of diversifying import sources to maintain stable supply and avoid reliance on a single exporter. The involvement of Bunge, one of the leading global grain operators, reinforces the importance of established suppliers in facilitating large-scale shipments for Southeast Asian markets.
The purchase demonstrates how tenders continue to serve as an efficient mechanism for buyers to secure agricultural commodities at competitive prices. By finalizing this transaction, Thai importers ensure sufficient supply of feed wheat for the upcoming period while balancing procurement costs with supply chain requirements.
This tender highlights ongoing trends in global grain trade, where flexibility in sourcing and timely logistics remain essential for import-dependent markets. With the shipment window clearly defined, the arrangement provides stability for Thai buyers as they manage feed demand in the domestic market.
