Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 13, In the marketing year 2024/25, Ukraine's soybean processing operations surpassed 2.6 million tons, as reported by the Ukoliyaprom Association. This substantial volume reflects the sector's strong momentum and its vital role in the nation's agricultural economy.

Ukoliyaprom highlighted exceptional growth in the manufacturing and international distribution of soybean oil and meal during this period. Shipments of soybean oil hit 521.3 thousand tons, generating $521.7 million in revenue—a 52.5% rise in quantity and a 98% jump in monetary terms compared to the previous season. Similarly, soybean meal exports climbed to 1.34 million tons, valued at $461.1 million, showing over 95% growth in volume and 54.4% in value.

“This indicates the demand for soybean oil and meal in many countries of the world, including the EU, and the unique opportunities for increasing domestic processing of raw materials and increasing production and exports of products with high added value,” the association noted.

Within the European Union, member states acquired 443 thousand tons of soybean oil from Ukraine last season. Poland emerged as the primary recipient, importing 345.3 thousand tons, while Germany took in 22 thousand tons and Bulgaria 17.9 thousand tons. These purchases illustrate the appeal of Ukrainian products in nearby markets, driven by quality and reliability.

Elsewhere, non-EU countries imported 78.3 thousand tons of Ukrainian soybean oil, with India accounting for 36.7 thousand tons—a clear sign of broadening global reach. This diversification helps stabilize export flows and opens avenues for sustained trade partnerships.

Turning to soybean meal, the EU absorbed 1.1 million tons in total. Poland led with 475 thousand tons, followed by Hungary at 256.2 thousand tons and Romania with 107 thousand tons. Such demand from key European partners reinforces Ukraine's status as a dependable source for animal feed and industrial applications.

The uptick in processing underscores strategic efforts to maximize value from raw soybeans through local refinement. By converting more raw materials into finished goods like oil and meal, Ukraine not only boosts revenue but also creates jobs and stimulates related industries. Ukoliyaprom's analysis points to favorable market conditions that encourage investment in processing infrastructure.

Looking ahead, this progress in MY 2024/25 sets a promising foundation for future seasons. Enhanced export volumes to varied destinations, including major economies in Europe and Asia, highlight Ukraine's competitive edge. The association's observations suggest potential for even greater output, provided ongoing support for logistics and production capacities.

Overall, these achievements contribute to economic resilience, ensuring that Ukraine remains a cornerstone in the worldwide supply of essential agricultural commodities. As global needs evolve, the focus on high-value exports will likely drive further innovation and expansion in the soybean sector.
