Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 11, Nouryon has inaugurated its latest innovation center in Shanghai, China. The advanced facility expands the company's focus on regional innovation, joint customer projects, and sustainable expansion in China and the Asia Pacific area.
The new site more than doubles the area of Nouryon's prior Shanghai location and boosts technical resources through investments in testing and analysis tools. These target fast-growing fields such as agriculture, electronics, construction, and pharmaceuticals. For personal care, the center includes a dedicated customer experience area.
“The launch of our innovation center in Shanghai marks another important milestone in Nouryon’s future in China,” said Charlie Shaver, chairman and CEO of Nouryon. “It deepens our commitment to innovation and customer intimacy, while enhancing our ability to co-develop high-performance, market-tailored solutions. This center will play a critical role in supporting our customers’ growth across key industries and accelerating our strategic ambitions in China and the broader Asia-Pacific region.”
Shaver noted that the center, now the 14th in Nouryon's worldwide innovation network, enables quick prototyping, performance evaluation, and creation of solutions suited to Chinese sectors.
The Shanghai facility strengthens Nouryon's local operations with eight specialized labs. New additions cover flagship products: Expancel® thermoplastic microspheres for lighter plastics, Kromasil® chromatography media for drug purification, Levasil® colloidal silica for catalysts, and Bermocoll® cellulose ethers for paints and coatings.
A standout feature is the customer experience center for the Personal Care unit. It facilitates direct collaboration via workshops, demonstrations, and formula development. Nouryon can display product results in practical settings and speed up joint creation of solutions matching regional consumer preferences.
The expanded space supports broader application testing and scale-up activities, aligning with market demands in Asia Pacific. Equipment upgrades allow precise measurements for material properties, ensuring consistent quality in high-volume production.
Nouryon's investment reflects confidence in China's role as a hub for specialty chemicals. The center connects global expertise with local insights, fostering faster response to industry trends. Labs for electronics focus on conductive and protective materials, while agriculture units explore crop protection enhancers.
In construction, testing emphasizes durable additives for modern building needs. Pharmaceutical labs aid in separation processes critical for active ingredient purity. The personal care area includes sensory evaluation tools to refine textures and efficacy.
Overall, the Shanghai innovation center positions Nouryon to deliver customized, sustainable products efficiently. It builds on the company's established presence, promoting long-term partnerships and technical advancement across diverse applications.
