Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 25, McDonald's New Zealand has revealed its 2024 sourcing figures, highlighting the significant contribution of local farmers and producers to its nationwide operations.

The company purchases approximately 90 percent of its ingredients domestically, spending $235 million on New Zealand-grown and produced items throughout the year. These ingredients support more than 170 restaurants that collectively serve over 1.5 million customers weekly.

Key purchases included 6.5 million litres of milk supplied through Fonterra, along with 1,051 tonnes of cheese and other dairy products manufactured specifically for local McDonald's restaurants.

Kylie Freeland, Managing Director for New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, stated: "There are so many New Zealanders who come together to bring our menu to life. Our favourites are served in minutes, but each ingredient reflects months, even years, of local growing, farming, and careful preparation. It's a story of dedication and collaboration long before the food reaches the tray."

In addition to domestic supply, New Zealand ingredients are highly regarded internationally. McDonald's exported over $287 million worth of locally produced items to its restaurants worldwide, including 265,600 kilograms of cheese.

The annual sourcing report underscores the close partnership between McDonald's and New Zealand's agricultural sector, demonstrating how local production not only meets domestic demand but also contributes to the company's global supply chain while supporting farmers and regional economies across the country.
