Wedoany.com Report-Dec.5, Anglo Asian Mining (LON: AAZ) has completed its first copper concentrate shipment from the recently commissioned Demirli mine in Azerbaijan under a sales agreement with global commodities trader Trafigura.
On 3 November, the London-listed company signed a contract to supply copper concentrates from Demirli, located in the Karabakh region, to Trafigura. The agreement includes a $25 million prepayment facility from Trafigura.
In the second half of November, Anglo Asian delivered 2,055 wet tonnes of concentrate containing 351 tonnes of copper metal. The sale is expected to generate approximately $3.6 million in revenue before the government of Azerbaijan's share.
To streamline logistics, the company established a dedicated storage and loading centre near Ganja, close to the main highway linking Azerbaijan and Georgia. This facility allows Trafigura's trucks to collect material without entering the Karabakh region, which has controlled access.
"We are continuing to make great progress at the Demirli mine, which was brought into production on time and on budget, and we have now completed our first copper concentrate sales to Trafigura," said Reza Vaziri, Chief Executive Officer of Anglo Asian Mining. "We continue to invest in this relationship, which is strategically important for Anglo Asian, by establishing our new logistics centre, which will drive significant efficiencies."
The Demirli flotation plant was successfully commissioned in July. Production guidance indicates approximately 4,000 tonnes of copper concentrate for 2025, increasing to 15,000 tonnes annually from 2026 onward.
The start of commercial sales marks a key milestone in Anglo Asian's strategy to diversify output beyond its established gold and silver operations while expanding copper production capacity in Azerbaijan.
