Wedoany.com Report-May 27, On May 18, the Vietnamese Embassy in Paris hosted the launch of VietNuc, a network of overseas Vietnamese nuclear energy experts, coinciding with Vietnam Science and Technology Day. The network unites nearly 100 scientists and professionals, primarily from French institutions such as EDF, Framatome, ANDRA, and CEA, as well as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

VietNuc focuses on three key objectives: connecting experts to share knowledge and build a global network, advancing nuclear technology through international collaboration and workforce development, and supporting Vietnam’s nuclear energy sector by providing expert consultation and engaging with government agencies. The initiative aims to strengthen ties between Vietnamese experts abroad and domestic partners to enhance nuclear energy capabilities.

Tran Manh Hung, Chief Representative of the Vietnam Science and Technology Office in France, highlighted the network’s importance, stating: “The participation of intellectuals, especially overseas Vietnamese, is of great and strategic significance.” He added that VietNuc will serve as a vital link connecting experts with Vietnam’s nuclear energy initiatives, fostering knowledge exchange and technological advancement.

Recently, Vietnam and Russia issued a joint statement affirming their commitment to negotiate agreements for constructing nuclear power plants (NPPs) in Vietnam. The statement noted: “The two sides agreed to promptly negotiate and sign intergovernmental agreements on the construction of nuclear power plants in Vietnam, ensuring the application of advanced technology and strict compliance with regulations on nuclear and radiation safety serving socio-economic development.” Rosatom, Russia’s state nuclear corporation, signed a roadmap with Vietnam outlining cooperation through 2030.

VietNuc’s launch aligns with Vietnam’s efforts to develop its nuclear energy sector, leveraging global expertise to support sustainable energy goals. The network’s collaboration with international institutions and its focus on technology transfer and workforce training are expected to enhance Vietnam’s capacity to meet growing energy demands while adhering to high safety and environmental standards.
