Wedoany.com Report-Jun 5, On May 29, 2025, REPT BATTERO Energy Co., Ltd., a Chinese battery manufacturer, signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Indonesia’s Bakrie & Brothers Group to collaborate on battery systems for commercial electric vehicles. The partnership, announced via REPT’s WeChat account, aims to promote sustainable energy solutions in Indonesia’s transportation sector.
The agreement outlines plans to deploy power battery systems for over 3,000 electric buses and trucks throughout 2025. REPT’s Indonesian subsidiary, PT REPT BATTERO INDONESIA, will produce these systems at its manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with Indonesia’s local content requirements (TKDN). The plant operates under the principle of “Indonesian Born, Global Contribution,” supporting Indonesia’s ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2060 or earlier.
A representative from REPT stated: “The strategic cooperation with Bakrie & Brothers Group will accelerate the adoption of green energy in Indonesia, contributing to sustainable transportation solutions.” The collaboration leverages REPT’s expertise in advanced battery technology and Bakrie’s local manufacturing capabilities to meet the growing demand for electric commercial vehicles.
PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk, a subsidiary of Bakrie & Brothers Group, operates Indonesia’s first commercial electric vehicle manufacturing facility. The plant specializes in producing electric buses and both light- and heavy-duty trucks, offering comprehensive services such as chassis assembly, battery integration, body welding, painting, final assembly, and vehicle testing. This facility strengthens the partnership by ensuring efficient production and distribution of electric vehicles.
The collaboration extends across the green transportation value chain, encompassing nickel smelting, battery materials, power cells, and integrated vehicle and energy storage solutions. REPT will supply high-performance battery systems tailored to local standards, while VKTR focuses on manufacturing, sales, and market promotion of electric vehicles. The partnership also aims to lead low-carbon initiatives, including green public transit systems and sustainable transport solutions for mining operations.
This joint effort supports Indonesia’s transition to cleaner energy by fostering local production and innovation in electric vehicle technology. By combining REPT’s advanced battery systems with VKTR’s manufacturing expertise, the partnership enhances the availability of sustainable transport options, contributing to environmental goals and economic development in the region.
