Wedoany.com Report-Jun 6, Involt Energy, a company based in India, has launched a solar cell manufacturing initiative with a new facility in Rajkot, Gujarat. The plant will have an annual capacity of 1.78 GW and feature fully automated production lines with cutting-edge solar technology.

The facility will employ n-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) technology to produce high-efficiency solar cells that meet global standards, ensuring reliability and performance for international markets.

Last week, a groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction in Rajkot. Involt Energy aims to initiate production by mid-2026, with plans for a second phase that includes a 3 GW solar cell line and a 3 GW wafer manufacturing facility to enhance its role in the solar industry.

Darshit Bhoraniya, director of Involt Energy, said: “In the solar sector, we are solely focused on solar cell manufacturing, with plans to begin ramp-up by mid-2026. This marks the first phase of our journey.” He added: “In the second phase, we plan to expand with a 3 GW solar cell manufacturing line along with a 3 GW wafer manufacturing facility, further strengthening our position in the solar value chain.”

Previously involved in tiles, silver jewelry, and frozen foods, Involt Energy is expanding into renewable energy with this project. The Rajkot facility positions the company to meet the rising demand for solar solutions while contributing to economic growth and innovation in Gujarat’s renewable energy sector.
