Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 7, Fugro, a global leader in geotechnical solutions, has secured a significant contract from Shinfox Energy for a geotechnical investigation at the 700MW Youde offshore wind farm, located off Taiwan’s west coast. This project is part of Taiwan’s Round 3.2 offshore wind tender, supporting the nation’s goal of achieving 13.1GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.
The investigation involves comprehensive site assessments conducted using Fugro’s Taiwan-flagged vessel, Pacific Hornbill. The vessel is equipped with the advanced C30 marine geotechnical drilling rig and the proprietary WISON MkV EcoDrive system for testing and sampling. Additionally, the SEACALF MkV Deep Drive equipment will be deployed to gather critical seabed and downhole geotechnical data, ensuring accurate insights for the wind farm’s development.
Fieldwork for the Youde project has already begun and is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025. The data collected will support the design and construction of the wind farm, contributing to Taiwan’s renewable energy objectives.
Shalu Shajahan, Fugro’s Asia Pacific Regional Business Line Director, stated: “This award showcases the trust that Shinfox has placed in our track record of delivering high-value Geo-data solutions to offshore wind clients in Taiwan since 2016.” The contract highlights Fugro’s expertise in providing reliable geotechnical services for Taiwan’s growing offshore wind sector.
Vincent Tsai, Deputy General Manager of Fugro IOVTEC, commented: “This milestone reinforces IOVTEC’s commitment to strengthening domestic offshore wind capabilities and building long-term partnerships that support Taiwan’s energy transition.” The project underscores Fugro’s role in advancing sustainable energy infrastructure in the region.
The Youde offshore wind farm is a key component of Taiwan’s efforts to expand clean energy production, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources. By leveraging advanced technologies and local expertise, the project aims to enhance energy security while promoting sustainable development. Fugro’s involvement ensures that the wind farm’s foundation is built on precise and reliable geotechnical data, paving the way for efficient and safe construction.
This collaboration between Fugro and Shinfox Energy exemplifies the growing focus on renewable energy in Taiwan, aligning with global trends toward sustainability and decarbonization. The project is poised to contribute significantly to the region’s clean energy goals, fostering economic and environmental benefits.
