Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 13, Eco Wave Power, a wave energy developer, has finalized the installation of its U.S. pilot project at the Port of Los Angeles, marking a significant step toward operational testing. The project, located at AltaSea, includes wave energy floaters, hydraulic pipes, supporting infrastructure, and an energy conversion unit, with installation work performed by C&S Welding.

The company is preparing for operational testing, with an official unveiling scheduled for September 9, 2025, at AltaSea. Inna Braverman, Founder and CEO of Eco Wave Power, stated: “Completing installation at the Port of Los Angeles marks a significant milestone in our U.S. journey. As it will serve as a vital learning and demonstration platform for environmental surveys, regulatory engagement, and site visits by key stakeholders. It’s a showcase of how our technology can be implemented on existing marine infrastructure while advancing the path toward commercial wave energy in the United States.”

The non-grid-connected pilot aims to test Eco Wave Power’s patented technology in U.S. marine conditions, support environmental monitoring, and engage with regulators, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It will also serve as a training hub for industry representatives and potential clients, laying the foundation for future grid-connected projects. The floaters were manufactured by All-Ways Metal, a California-based, woman-owned company, while C&S Welding, based in Wilmington, handled the installation.

Ian Crichton, President of C&S Welding, said: “Completing the installation is a proud moment for our team. Eco Wave Power’s system is an exciting clean energy solution, and we’re honored to play a role in its U.S. debut.”

Eco Wave Power’s onshore system uses floaters attached to existing marine structures, where wave motion drives hydraulic cylinders to transfer fluid to a land-based conversion unit, generating electricity. The design, which avoids a seabed footprint and requires minimal maintenance, is suited for ports and coastal sites. The Los Angeles pilot is part of the company’s 404.7 MW global project pipeline, which includes a megawatt-scale project in Portugal and pilot initiatives in Taiwan and India with partners I-Ke and Bharat Petroleum.

In April 2025, Eco Wave Power signed a manufacturing agreement with All-Ways Metal for the floaters, following regulatory approvals, including a license from the Port of Los Angeles and a federal permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in November 2024. The recent installation of the energy conversion unit moves the project closer to its operational phase, advancing sustainable energy solutions in the U.S.
