Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 27, Norwegian postal and logistics service Posten Bring Norge has awarded Veidekke the contract to construct the framework of its new logistics facility in Lyseparken, located south of Bergen. The turnkey agreement is valued at nearly Nkr280 million ($27.5 million), excluding VAT.
Construction is set to commence immediately.
The upcoming logistics centre will cover 22,000 square metres and include 156 loading bays around the exterior. In addition, it will feature a two-storey office space measuring 2,200 square metres. Construction will begin immediately, with completion scheduled for March 2027. Once operational, the facility is expected to triple the parcel handling capacity compared to Posten Bring’s existing terminals at Minde and Jekteviken.
Thor Småbrekke, district manager at Veidekke Bygg Bergen, said: “We are proud and pleased to have won the competition for the building shell and external works for what will become Posten Bring’s new main terminal for parcels and freight in Western Norway. In recent years, Veidekke has built several logistics centres for Posten Bring in other parts of the country, and we are very grateful to have earned their trust this time in our own region.”
Posten Bring’s director of real estate, Edvard Nervik, stated: “We are very pleased to have signed this contract with Veidekke, allowing us to begin construction of our new logistics centre in Lyseparken. This project is crucial for fulfilling our societal mission of delivering mail, parcels, and freight to and from Bergen and the surrounding areas. We have extensive experience working with Veidekke on several of our recent facilities and are confident they will once again deliver a high-quality building for Posten Bring.”
According to the announcement, the decision to select Veidekke was strongly influenced by climate and environmental considerations. Veidekke confirmed that this contract will be recorded in its order book for the third quarter of 2025.
In addition to the Lyseparken project, Veidekke has also recently been commissioned to build Bjarg Arena, a multipurpose facility in Bergen for the Bjarg Sports Club. The turnkey agreement, valued at Nkr116 million, excluding VAT, involves constructing a 5,000 square metre facility. Bjarg Arena will include a handball hall with 230 spectator seats, a basketball hall, an activity hall, a gym, and running tracks, among other features.
Through these projects, Veidekke continues to expand its presence in Norway’s construction sector, particularly in logistics and community-oriented facilities. The Lyseparken logistics centre, once completed, will play a central role in improving parcel and freight handling in Western Norway, while the Bjarg Arena will serve as a modern space for sports and recreational activities in Bergen.
