SPIE Lands Offshore Cable Work for TPC Phase II Project in Taiwan

Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 7, SPIE Wind Connect, a subsidiary of SPIE Global Services Energy, has secured a contract to perform termination and testing of inter-array cables for the Taipower Offshore Wind Project Phase II (TPC Phase II) in Taiwan. The agreement was awarded by Shinfox Far East Energy and covers work at the offshore wind farm located around 20 kilometers from Changhua County.

The company started its activities in August, with final completion planned for 2026. The inter-array cables will connect 31 Vestas V174-9.5 MW wind turbines to the project’s offshore substation, which was recently installed at the construction site.

TPC Offshore Phase II, with a capacity of 300 MW, is among the eleven offshore wind developments that were selected by the Taiwanese government in April 2018. Once in full operation, the project is expected to produce approximately 1,000 GWh of electricity per year. This generation capacity will supply power for around 270,000 households and is anticipated to reduce annual carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions by more than 403,000 tons.

The project plays a significant role in Taiwan’s broader renewable energy strategy, supporting the development of offshore wind as part of its long-term energy diversification goals. The use of advanced wind turbines and modern offshore substation infrastructure is designed to enhance reliability and efficiency in power delivery.
