Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 5, Canadian Solar’s battery storage subsidiary, e-STORAGE, has launched its next-generation utility-scale energy storage system, FlexBank 1.0. The newly introduced solution provides up to 8.36 megawatt-hours (MWh) of storage capacity per unit and is designed for a projected service life of up to 20 years.
FlexBank 1.0 incorporates a modular open-frame architecture, which allows each cabinet to operate as an independent building block. This approach, according to the company, enhances flexibility in design, simplifies logistics, and improves on-site installation efficiency. The modular system is aimed at offering operators the ability to customize layouts for a wide range of project requirements.
At the technical level, FlexBank 1.0 is powered by 314 ampere-hour (Ah) lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, a widely adopted standard in the energy storage industry. The company highlighted that these cells have become increasingly prevalent in global projects. As an example, China Electric Equipment Group recently completed a centralized procurement of 7,248 MWh of storage capacity, in which nearly all awarded contracts were for products based on 314 Ah cells.
Canadian Solar noted that FlexBank 1.0 was developed to meet the growing demand for large-scale, long-duration storage solutions. With the continued expansion of renewable energy and increasing reliance on stable grid infrastructure, utility-scale battery systems are expected to play an important role in ensuring reliable electricity supply.
