Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 15, Energean’s Italian subsidiary, a London-based oil and gas company, has resumed operations at the Rospo Mare field, located 20 kilometers off the Abruzzo coast in the Adriatic Sea, near Termoli and Vasto. Production restarted on October 12, 2025, following a suspension since January 2025. The field, fully owned and operated by Energean, operates in 80 meters of water depth and has been active since 1982.
The Rospo Mare field features three platforms—RSM A, RSM B, and RSM C—alongside the Alba Marina, a floating storage and offloading tanker used to store production temporarily. The main platform, RSM B, processes the oil and connects to the two satellite platforms via two 16-inch sealines and to the Alba Marina. With 31 wells, 29 of which are producing, the field is expected to achieve full production capacity within days, pending final authorizations.
Nicolas Katcharov, CEO of Energean Italy, stated: “Over the past months, the Company has dedicated more than 50,000 man-hours to restoration activities, demonstrating the importance we place on HSE issues by investing in training, updating our protocols, and strengthening our culture of prevention. Today, the Rospo Mare Field is back online and I would like to thank all our stakeholders who made this achievement possible.”
The Rospo Mare field is a significant contributor to Italy’s offshore crude oil production, with a capacity exceeding 2,000 barrels per day. Energean anticipates the field will remain operational beyond 2040. The restart follows extensive efforts to enhance safety and operational protocols, ensuring reliable and sustainable production.
In addition to its Italian operations, Energean recently collaborated with Croatia’s INA on the Irena field development in Croatian waters within the Izabela concession. This project involves a single platform tied to existing infrastructure at the Izabela field, further expanding Energean’s presence in the Adriatic region. The company continues to prioritize efficient and environmentally responsible energy production to support regional energy needs.
