Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 16, The ORCHID LEADER, operated by Guangzhou Yuanhai Auto Carrier, a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Specialised, has arrived at the Jiangyin Port area of Fuzhou Port, marking the launch of a direct shipping route from Fuzhou to the Persian Gulf.
On this voyage, the vessel carried 1,697 vehicles manufactured by local Fuzhou companies, including Chery and Jetour. These vehicles are destined for countries along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, such as the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Kuwait, utilizing this new, efficient pathway to access international markets.
The ORCHID LEADER, the largest dual-fuel car carrier to dock at Fuzhou Port since its roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) operations began, has a capacity of 7,000 car equivalent units (CEUs). It can transport a variety of vehicles and MAFI cargo, which includes large, heavy, or high-value goods. The ship’s LNG dual-fuel system enhances its eco-friendly operations, aligning with the sustainable branding of Jetour Auto.
This direct, door-to-door service streamlines the logistics process for Fuzhou-produced vehicles, connecting factories directly to the port and onward to destination ports. The route reduces logistics time by nearly 50%, significantly boosting export efficiency for regional manufacturers.
Fuzhou’s Jiangyin Port Area supports this efficiency with measures like 24-hour customs clearance and immediate loading upon arrival. The ORCHID LEADER benefited from these provisions, completing vehicle loading swiftly through an intelligent dispatching system, enabling a prompt departure.
Guangzhou Yuanhai Auto Carrier plans to increase the frequency of sailings on the Fuzhou-Persian Gulf route. The company aims to capitalize on the environmental benefits of its dual-fuel vessels and advanced loading technologies to provide comprehensive logistics solutions, facilitating the global reach of Fujian-made automobiles.
Last week, COSCO Shipping Ports finalized the acquisition of a 12.5% stake in Thai Laem Chabang Terminal and a 30% stake in Hutchison Laem Chabang Terminal, further strengthening its regional logistics network.
This new route enhances Fuzhou Port’s role as a key hub for automotive exports, leveraging modern infrastructure and sustainable practices. The integration of intelligent systems and green technology underscores the commitment to efficient and environmentally responsible operations.
By connecting Fuzhou’s automotive industry to global markets, the route supports economic growth and strengthens trade ties with Persian Gulf nations. The ORCHID LEADER’s successful docking and the planned expansion of this service highlight the potential for increased export volumes, benefiting local manufacturers and international buyers alike.
