Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 17, Kineco Exel Composites India (KECI), a joint venture between Exel Composites (Vantaa, Finland) and Kineco Group (Goa, India), has achieved full production capacity at its new facility in Banda, India. The plant, specifically designed for the wind energy sector, enhances Exel’s ability to supply high-performance carbon fiber components for turbine blades. Following extensive testing throughout 2024 and 2025, the site is now fully operational, with dedicated production lines for carbon fiber products.

Completed in 2024, the Banda facility was tailored for high-volume manufacturing of carbon fiber components, with machinery and layout optimized for efficiency. KECI has secured initial customer approvals, enabling volume shipments of carbon fiber flats to major wind energy manufacturers in the region. These flats, critical for structural reinforcement in turbine blades, such as spar caps, address the increasing mechanical demands of larger blade designs.

India’s wind energy sector has seen significant growth, adding 4.15 gigawatts of capacity in 2024, bringing the national total to 50 gigawatts. The rising demand for advanced components like those produced at Banda supports the development of larger, more efficient wind turbines, strengthening the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.

“Reaching volume production capacity in India marks a leap in our long-term plans to support the wind industry,” said Kari Loukola, executive vice president of industrial solutions at Exel Composites. “By localizing our pultrusion capabilities in India, we can supply high-performance components close to the point of use, helping our customers meet their business goals.”

The facility focuses primarily on wind energy components, including flats, joiners, and bolt fixtures. This milestone builds on a €10 million order from a South Asian manufacturer in the previous year, underscoring KECI’s growing role in the regional supply chain. The Banda plant is poised to enhance the delivery of durable, high-quality components, contributing to the efficiency and scalability of wind energy projects.

KECI’s achievement strengthens India’s wind energy supply chain, supporting the production of advanced turbines and aligning with the country’s renewable energy goals. By leveraging localized manufacturing, the joint venture ensures faster delivery and tailored solutions for wind energy manufacturers, fostering sustainable growth in the sector.
