Chinese Phone Maker OPPO Opens Factory in Egypt

Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 25, On October 23, 2025, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated a new smartphone and electronics manufacturing facility operated by Chinese technology company OPPO in the industrial city of 10th of Ramadan, east of Cairo. The plant’s launch marks a significant step in strengthening Egypt’s electronics manufacturing sector.

“This opening is a strong addition to the electronics manufacturing sector in Egypt,” said a statement from the Egyptian cabinet, highlighting the facility’s role in advancing local industry. The plant, spanning 24,000 square meters, features 17 production lines and employs around 2,000 Egyptian workers. It currently produces approximately 400,000 units per month, with a local value-added ratio exceeding 42%, which is expected to grow in the coming years.

Ma Jixiong, general manager of OPPO Egypt, emphasized the strategic importance of the facility: “The opening is not only a testament to OPPO’s confidence in the potential of the Egyptian market, but also a platform to deliver our latest innovations to local consumers, create promising jobs for Egyptian talents, and contribute to Egypt’s national development.”

The factory is set to expand to 20 production lines by the first quarter of 2026, increasing its output to about 500,000 units per month. This expansion will further enhance Egypt’s capacity to meet domestic demand for electronics while supporting export opportunities, aligning with the country’s economic growth objectives.
