Amy List, Managing Director of Boeing Defence Australia, said: “Our partnership with the Australian Government to create significant export opportunities for Australian companies helps support high-tech jobs across the country and creates pathways for these companies, many of which are small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to be integral parts of our global business. This latest contract supplying castings for commercial products also includes parts for commercial derivatives such as the P-8 Poseidon, with Australia recently receiving its thirteenth maritime patrol aircraft last month.”
Through its participation in the GSC program, Boeing provides Australian suppliers with opportunities to export products, services, and technology into Boeing’s global supply chain. Since joining the program in 2007, Boeing is on track to exceed AU$1 billion in awarded export contracts to Australian suppliers. The program supports commercial aircraft and defence products, space and satellite systems, research and development, and Boeing’s operations based in Australia. To date, Boeing has issued more than 1,700 bid opportunities, resulting in over AU$967 million in export contracts awarded to 105 Australian suppliers.
Sam Bell, CEO of AW Bell, commented: “We are extremely proud to be supporting BCA with a range of titanium and aluminium components for their 737, 767 and 777 aircraft. This contract stands as a testament to the strength, innovation and global competitiveness of Australian manufacturing and I’d personally like to thank the Boeing GSC team, whose support and confidence in our capabilities helped make this possible. For AW Bell and BCA, this is the beginning of a trusted, long-term partnership.”
The contract highlights the growing integration of Australian suppliers into Boeing’s international supply chain, reinforcing the role of local manufacturing in high-tech aerospace production. AW Bell’s work will cover precision titanium and aluminium components, supporting both commercial aircraft and defence-related derivatives, ensuring compliance with Boeing’s global quality and performance standards.
Boeing’s collaboration with Australian suppliers illustrates how government-supported initiatives like the GSC program can strengthen industrial capability, create skilled jobs, and expand export opportunities. The program not only enhances domestic aerospace and defence industries but also fosters long-term partnerships between multinational corporations and local enterprises.
Through this contract, Boeing and AW Bell continue to demonstrate the benefits of innovation, quality manufacturing, and international cooperation, contributing to both the global aerospace supply chain and the growth of Australia’s advanced manufacturing sector.
