Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 25, DP World's Jebel Ali Port in Dubai achieved a new monthly record by handling 630,000 tonnes of breakbulk cargo in October 2025, the highest volume in almost twenty years.

The strong performance was driven by increased imports of iron and steel supporting major infrastructure projects, including the Dubai Metro Blue Line and the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), as well as growing sugar exports.

Building on a robust 2024 when annual breakbulk throughput rose 23 percent year-on-year to 5.36 million tonnes, the October milestone underscores Jebel Ali's central role in facilitating the UAE’s expanding industrial and construction sectors.

Shahab Al Jassmi, Chief Commercial Officer, Ports & Terminals at DP World GCC, stated: "This milestone demonstrates the confidence businesses place in Jebel Ali as the region's most reliable gateway. Rising volumes show how we are helping customers meet growing infrastructure demand while keeping supply chains efficient and resilient. We remain committed to expanding capacity, technology, and sustainability initiatives to support long-term growth."

Breakbulk cargo, consisting of heavy and oversized items essential for large-scale construction and industrial activities, remains a key segment at the port. The facility benefits from seamless integration with the adjacent Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) and DP World's extensive global logistics network, enabling efficient handling and onward distribution of complex shipments.

Earlier in 2025, DP World further strengthened Jebel Ali's capabilities by opening a new 2.6 million square foot vehicle storage yard at Terminal 4 in August to accommodate rising automotive logistics demand.

The continued growth in breakbulk volumes reinforces Jebel Ali Port's position as a vital trade hub connecting regional markets with international supply chains while supporting the UAE's ongoing economic and infrastructure development.
