Wedoany.com Report-Dec.2, Fashion for Good has released a comprehensive decarbonisation blueprint for Tier 2 textile dyeing, treatment, and finishing facilities, focusing on manufacturers in India producing cotton knits and wovens. The free guidance document outlines five practical pathways to achieve near-net-zero operations.

The blueprint offers Tier 2 manufacturers, including textile dyeing facilities, pathways to reduce carbon emissions by up to 93%.

When fully implemented, the recommended measures can reduce carbon emissions by up to 93 percent, water consumption by 33 percent, and electricity usage by 41 percent, according to the organisation.

Developed under the Future Forward Factory project with Arvind Mills as anchor partner, the blueprint provides detailed technical options, cost analyses, payback periods, internal rates of return, and net present value calculations for each pathway. It also maps available government incentives and includes a decision tool to help manufacturers select the most suitable route.

Fashion for Good managing director Katrin Ley stated: "The Future Forward Factory blueprint removes the guesswork and delivers a pragmatic solution to a complex problem. By making this knowledge freely available, we are systematically dismantling the biggest barrier to decarbonisation: the lack of a clear, implementable 'how-to.' Every manufacturer now has access to concrete guidance and validated financial data. This is more than a roadmap; it is the essential guide for the industry's factory transformation."

Arvind Mills sustainability senior vice president Abhishek Bansal commented: "As we build this facility, we are committed to sharing what we will learn. The Future Forward Factory blueprint is proof that a holistic understanding of the decarbonisation journey can unlock an investment case and create operational efficiencies for long-term profitability. Moving from assessments to the actual deployment of solutions."

The initiative receives support from Laudes Foundation, H&M Foundation, Apparel Impact Institute, IDH, Bluwin, Wazir Advisors, Grant Thornton Bharat, and Sattva Consulting.

Fashion for Good and Apparel Impact Institute plan to collaborate with selected Indian manufacturers to retrofit facilities using the blueprint, providing technical assistance and financing guidance during implementation. The first demonstration factory, developed with Arvind Mills, will serve as a practical reference for similar projects in South Asia and Latin America, where region-specific versions are under development.

The blueprint addresses a critical segment of the fashion supply chain responsible for substantial environmental impact, offering manufacturers clear, financially viable options to transition toward sustainable production practices.
