Chinese Ambassador to Oman, Lyu Jian, stated at the event that the new route represents a concrete step in implementing the outcomes of the first China-Arab States Summit and the first China-GCC Summit. He added that it will significantly enhance exchanges in political and diplomatic areas, practical cooperation, and people-to-people connections.
Li Ye, Executive Vice President of China Eastern Airlines Group, described the Beijing-Muscat service as a key long-haul addition to the airline's expanding Middle East network in 2025. The route is expected to promote business ties, cultural exchange, and tourism development between the two countries.
Oman's Minister of Heritage and Tourism, Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, noted that China is one of the world's largest outbound tourism markets. He emphasised that the direct flight will make travel between the two capitals more convenient and appealing, with anticipated growth in bilateral tourist flows in both directions.
The inaugural China Eastern Airlines flight from Beijing touched down at Muscat International Airport on Sunday evening, officially commencing scheduled nonstop service on the route.
The new link strengthens direct air connectivity between China and the Gulf region, offering travellers shorter journey times and supporting increased economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation between Beijing and Muscat.
