Wedoany.com Report-Dec.8, GE Vernova has signed a contract with Greenvolt Power to supply onshore wind turbines for the Gurbanesti wind farm located in Călărași County, Romania. The agreement includes the supply, installation and commissioning of 42 units of GE Vernova's 6.1 MW turbines with 158-metre rotors.
GE Vernova operates a global fleet of approximately 57,000 turbines.
This is the second large-scale onshore wind project awarded to GE Vernova in Romania within the past two months, following a similar order for 42 turbines destined for the Ialomița wind farm. Together, the two developments will add approximately 500 MW of new renewable capacity.
Once operational, the combined output from both wind farms is projected to produce sufficient clean electricity to supply more than 110,000 Romanian households annually, supporting the country's target to significantly increase renewable energy generation by 2030.
The Gurbanesti project was booked in the fourth quarter of 2025, with turbine deliveries scheduled to start in 2026. Construction activities at peak periods are expected to create several hundred full-time jobs.
GE Vernova's onshore wind international markets chief commercial officer, Gilan Sabatier, said: "We are pleased to once again support Greenvolt as they work to bring online more renewable energy in Romania and across the globe.
"Paired with our earlier announcement about supporting a similar sized Romanian wind farm, today's announcement reinforces the value our workhorse turbines can create for customers in Romania and across Europe."
GE Vernova currently manages a global installed fleet of around 57,000 wind turbines representing 120 GW of capacity. The company's latest turbine models are designed for high efficiency and large-scale deployment, contributing to the accelerated expansion of sustainable renewable energy worldwide.
