Intravesical Electrical Stimulation Treatment Principle
As a conservative treatment method, IVES aims to enhance bladder sensation, promote bladder emptying, and reduce residual urine. IVES involves inserting a urinary catheter with a stimulation electrode into the bladder, using physiological saline as the medium to stimulate the detrusor muscle. Through the remaining afferent nerve pathway between the detrusor muscle and the central nervous system, it induces the bladder to generate a sensation of urination, thereby increasing efferent neural impulses to promote urination or improve urinary continence.
