Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 2, Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine’s national railway, has signed a €6 million contract with Bulgarian firm Express Service to supply 10 battery-powered shunters and spare parts. The ES3000 model, a three-axle shunter, can pull trains weighing up to 3,000 tonnes at speeds of up to 15 km/h.

Deliveries will begin in the third quarter of 2025 and continue through the end of 2026. This order falls under an emergency support program from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, aimed at aiding Ukrainian railways amid ongoing challenges.

The contract reflects a practical step to enhance Ukrzaliznytsia’s operational capacity with modern, efficient equipment. Express Service’s role ensures a steady supply of these shunters, supporting Ukraine’s rail infrastructure with reliable technology over the next year and a half.
