Granted by Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, this Level 1 AiP marks progress toward realizing a vessel that prioritizes sustainability and efficiency for offshore wind operations.
The hydrogen-powered SOV is designed to operate with zero carbon emissions for 95% of its standard activities, potentially reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 4,000 tons annually. Engineered for optimal performance, the vessel can accommodate up to 90 technicians and support continuous 24-hour operations. Its 14-day endurance at sea eliminates the need for additional offshore infrastructure, while refueling is streamlined, requiring only six hours using trailers, thus avoiding reliance on extensive port facilities.
LDA emphasized its commitment to tailored solutions, stating: “At LDA, we believe in developing purpose-built SOVs tailored to specific projects and needs.” The company already offers vessels powered by alternative fuels, such as fully electric and dual-fuel methanol options, and views hydrogen as a promising solution for the future. The AiP underscores LDA’s dedication to advancing cleaner technologies in the maritime sector, particularly for the offshore wind industry.
