Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 19, Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, located off the East coast of Scotland, has appointed energy and marine consultancy ABL as the marine warranty surveyor (MWS) for its transport and installation activities. ABL will oversee the entire construction process of the 1,100 MW wind farm, which includes the transport and installation of wind turbine generators, jacket and monopile foundations, the offshore substation platform, and both export and inter-array cables.

The wind farm will consist of 72 turbines, generating renewable energy, which will be transported 85 kilometers to a new substation at Cockenzie in East Lothian. From there, the energy will be integrated into the national transmission system. The project is expected to play a significant role in Scotland’s renewable energy capacity.

ABL's Aberdeen office will manage the project, supported by teams from ABL’s offices in London, Newcastle (UK), and Rotterdam (Netherlands). The company brings significant experience from numerous European offshore wind projects.

Ashley Perrett, ABL’s country manager in Scotland, stated: "We will utilise our collective marine expertise from a huge amount of European offshore wind projects to deliver a high-quality service to the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm. We are delighted to be working on this large-scale renewable energy project."

As part of its role as the marine warranty surveyor, ABL will review all relevant documentation, conduct vessel inspections, and certify components and vessel equipment used during the project. ABL has been involved with the Inch Cape project since its early planning phase in 2019 and will continue its support through the construction phase.

The installation of the offshore substation platform is scheduled for late summer 2025, and the project is expected to be completed by 2027.
