Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 27, AECOM has secured a place on National Highways’ Specialist Professional and Technical Services 3 (SPaTS3) framework in the UK, working in partnership with Arup. The framework, which is expected to run until 2031, carries an estimated maximum value of up to £495 million ($666 million). According to a press statement, the program will involve six suppliers over a six-year duration.

The framework holds an estimated maximum value of up to £495m.

The SPaTS3 framework is designed to provide National Highways, the body responsible for managing and improving England’s motorways and major A roads, with specialist technical and advisory services. These services will support efforts to enhance safety and strengthen the resilience of England’s 4,500-mile strategic road network. The collaboration between AECOM and Arup builds on their previous cooperation under earlier SPaTS frameworks with National Highways.

Mark Southwell, CEO of AECOM’s global transportation business, said: “As the world’s top highways design firm, we look forward to applying our international advisory expertise to realise this framework’s ambitious infrastructure objectives. Our collaborative and integrated approach enables us to apply world-class capabilities and technical excellence to help ensure England’s roadways are sustainable and fit for the future.”

Richard Whitehead, CEO of AECOM’s Europe and India region, added: “This appointment builds on our extensive track record of success delivering for National Highways. We will bring the full breadth of our engineering advisory expertise to this framework, supporting National Highways as it continues to enhance the efficiency, safety and resilience of England’s strategic road network.”

AECOM has an established history of working on highway infrastructure projects in England, including assignments with the Department for Transport and National Highways. The company has been involved in delivering projects that address efficiency and long-term sustainability in transportation.

Beyond the UK, AECOM has recently expanded its role in major international infrastructure projects. In Saudi Arabia, AECOM was appointed by Shomoul Holding as project management consultant and engineer for Phase II of The Avenues – Riyadh, a large-scale mixed-use development in North Riyadh City. Additionally, in June, the company was named technical advisor and lead consultant for VicGrid, a newly formed government agency in Australia tasked with developing renewable energy zones and related grid infrastructure.

The SPaTS3 framework marks another step for AECOM and Arup in providing advisory services that contribute to the modernization and resilience of transport systems. By combining their technical expertise and experience, both companies aim to deliver innovative solutions that support the future of England’s national road network.
