Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 30, Sarawak is preparing for its first export of green hydrogen in solid form through a collaboration between SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd (SEDCE) and technology partner Hydrexia Holding Limited. This development marks a significant step for the state in entering the international hydrogen market.

In its statement, SEDCE announced that the initial shipment will be sent to Singapore. This will be the first time green hydrogen molecules produced in Sarawak are exported abroad. The company emphasized that the milestone sets the groundwork for building a regional hydrogen ecosystem while also contributing to the global energy transition.

The export will utilize Hydrexia Holding Limited’s solid-state Metal Hydride Hydrogen Storage Technology (MHX). This system stores hydrogen molecules in magnesium hydride, allowing safe and efficient transportation. The approach is expected to enhance the flexibility of hydrogen supply chains in the region.

SEDCE further stated that it is holding discussions with potential offtakers interested in future supplies of green hydrogen from the Darul Hana H2 Plant. The plant is positioned as a central production hub to meet growing demand in Southeast Asia and beyond.

With this first export, Sarawak aims to showcase its role in advancing hydrogen as a clean energy carrier. The partnership with Hydrexia demonstrates the application of innovative storage and transportation solutions to bring hydrogen to international markets.

The project reflects the state’s broader strategy to diversify its energy sector, strengthen cross-border energy cooperation, and contribute to sustainable energy development. The export of green hydrogen in solid form is expected to open new opportunities for Sarawak in the regional and global hydrogen value chain.
