Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 25, Vietjet has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737-8 aircraft, the initial unit from a 200-aircraft order valued at approximately US$32 billion. The arrival marks an important phase in the airline’s fleet modernisation and standardisation programme designed to improve operational efficiency and support long-term sustainable expansion as an international carrier group.
The aircraft landed at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok and is the first of 50 Boeing 737-8s scheduled for delivery to Vietjet Thailand between now and 2028. The new addition will immediately strengthen flight capacity to meet rising passenger demand across the Asia-Pacific region.
Assigned to Vietjet Thailand, the aircraft will begin commercial service on the domestic Bangkok–Chiang Mai route, followed by the international Bangkok–Cam Ranh route in December 2025. From early 2026 it will support further network growth to Japan, South Korea, and China. In Vietnam, Vietjet continues to operate its existing Airbus fleet.
The 737-8 features advanced aerodynamics and CFM International LEAP-1B engines, delivering 15–20 percent lower carbon emissions and up to 50 percent reduced noise compared with previous-generation aircraft. It is fully compatible with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and offers a maximum range of 6,570 kilometres. The Boeing Sky Interior provides a brighter cabin environment, larger overhead bins, and enhanced passenger comfort.
Vietjet's 200-aircraft commitment with Boeing remains one of the largest single orders by a Southeast Asian carrier and contributes to balanced trade relations between Vietnam and the United States.
With an expanding modern fleet and established operational expertise, Vietjet continues to develop its international network through major Asia-Pacific hubs while preparing for future long-haul services to Europe and the Americas, creating sustained value for stakeholders and delivering reliable, high-quality travel experiences to millions of passengers annually.
