Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 29, U.S. crude oil production reached a new record high in September 2025, according to data released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Friday. Total output increased by 44,000 barrels per day from the previous month, rising to 13.84 million barrels per day despite ongoing concerns about global oversupply.

The continued rise in U.S. production this year has occurred even as oil prices remain under pressure. On Friday, benchmark Brent crude traded just below $64 per barrel, approximately 14% lower than levels seen at the same point in 2024.

Several key regions drove the monthly gain. New Mexico, the country's second-largest oil-producing state, achieved a record output of 2.351 million barrels per day. Meanwhile, production in the federal offshore Gulf of Mexico climbed to 1.983 million barrels per day, marking the highest level since February 2020.

Looking ahead, analysts expect future growth in U.S. oil supply to shift increasingly toward the offshore Gulf region, as major onshore basins approach their peak production phases.

In contrast to the rise in crude output, U.S. gross natural gas production in the Lower 48 states edged lower in September. Daily production averaged 122.17 billion cubic feet, down slightly from August's all-time high of 122.8 billion cubic feet per day, according to the EIA's monthly 914 report.

Among leading natural gas-producing states, Texas recorded a modest decline of 0.63% month-on-month, with September output at 37.69 billion cubic feet per day.

The latest figures highlight the resilience of U.S. upstream activity in a lower-price environment, supported by operational efficiency gains and ongoing development in core producing areas. The increase in domestic supply continues to play a significant role in global oil market dynamics.
