Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 18, Jaldhi Overseas, a Singapore-based vessel chartering and logistics company under Bothra Group, has signed contracts with two Japanese shipbuilders for three environmentally friendly stainless steel chemical tankers. According to Greek shipbroker Intermodal, the orders were placed with Asakawa Shipbuilding in Imabari for two tankers and Fukuoka Shipbuilding for one tanker. The contract values remain undisclosed.
The two vessels from Asakawa Shipbuilding will each have a deadweight tonnage of 26,000, while the tanker from Fukuoka Shipbuilding will have a capacity of 20,000 deadweight tonnes. All three tankers are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2028.
Established in 2004, Jaldhi Overseas currently operates three stainless steel tankers under the Singapore flag: the 2000-built MT Jal Garuda, the 2002-built MT Jal Kisan, and the 2006-built MT Jal Siddhi. The company is expanding its fleet to meet growing demand for sustainable maritime solutions.
Jaldhi Overseas has additional plans to enhance its fleet. By 2028, the company expects to receive three 40,000 deadweight tonne tankers from China’s Nantong Xiangyu Offshore & Marine Engineering. Additionally, by the first quarter of 2026, five medium-range (MR) tankers will join the fleet from Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding (Yamic) in China.
Between the third quarter of 2027 and the end of 2028, Jaldhi Overseas will take delivery of four 93,000 cubic meter very large ammonia carriers (VLACs) from Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). In August 2024, Jaldhi Overseas and Jiangnan Shipbuilding also signed a letter of intent for two more VLACs of the same capacity.
The shipbuilding industry in China has seen increased activity in chemical tanker orders. For example, in March 2025, Singapore’s Rongtua Shipping ordered two 25,900 deadweight tonne Tier III tankers from Jinling Dingheng yard. Similarly, Xintong Shipping, a Chinese chemical tanker operator, commissioned four 13,800 deadweight tonne vessels from Taizhou Kouan, with prices ranging from $22.3 million to $23.4 million each, set for delivery between 2026 and 2027.
These developments highlight Jaldhi Overseas’s commitment to expanding its fleet with eco-friendly vessels, aligning with global demand for sustainable shipping solutions.
