Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 31, Cadeler, a leading offshore wind installation company, has secured a contract with Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) to handle the transportation and installation of 35 Siemens Gamesa 14MW wind turbines at the Formosa 4 Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan. The project will utilize Cadeler’s advanced M-class wind turbine installation vessels, designed for high efficiency and reliability.

The project will be executed using Cadeler’s next-generation M-class wind turbine installation vessels.

The operations are set to commence in March 2028 and are expected to span approximately 150 days. Cadeler projects the contract will generate revenue between €70 million and €80 million. This agreement follows a September 2024 reservation deal that secured two offshore wind projects in the Asia-Pacific region for Cadeler.

Located 18 to 20 kilometers off the coast of Miaoli County, the Formosa 4 Offshore Wind Farm will cover 58 square kilometers, with turbines installed at water depths ranging from 57 to 64 meters. Upon completion, the wind farm will produce 495 megawatts of clean energy, significantly contributing to Taiwan’s renewable energy goals.

Cadeler CEO Mikkel Gleerup stated: “This milestone project further anchors Cadeler’s strategic presence in the Asia-Pacific region. With the support of our team based in Taipei, we are steadily building up our APAC presence and pipeline, with two vessels currently operating contracts in the region. With an M-class vessel, we are bringing best-in-class technology to Taiwan’s shores, building a bridge between continents and the infrastructure for a cleaner tomorrow.”

The collaboration strengthens Cadeler’s operations in the Asia-Pacific, supported by its Taipei office, which enhances local coordination and project execution. The Formosa 4 project aligns with Cadeler’s commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure globally.

In a related development, SRE Group awarded a 15-year service operations vessel (SOV) contract to Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) earlier this month to support the operations and maintenance of its assets, starting with Formosa 4. The custom-built, Taiwan-flagged SOV, designed to meet Taiwan’s maritime conditions and European standards, will assist during the wind farm’s construction and operational phases.

Additionally, in May, SRE increased its stake in the Formosa 2 offshore wind farm by 26%, securing a 51% majority interest. These efforts reflect SRE’s and Cadeler’s commitment to expanding Taiwan’s renewable energy capacity and supporting sustainable development in the region.
